At the end vs. in the end

A great number of Spanish speaking students confuse these two expressions when they express themselves in English. Here are the differences:

In the end

I kept pulling the door without any success. In the end, John came and managed to open it.

It´s a synonym of finally and after all.

At the end

Did you like the film? Don´t tell me what happens at the end.

It´s the opposite of at the beginning.
