Sensory acuity

This is another NLP principle, together with “There´s no failure, only feedback” and “Know what outcome you want to achieve”, two of my previous posts.

This principle  states the importance of using your senses to become aware of yourself and others´signals. Since 90 % of our communication is non-verbal, we need to pay close attention to the messages we send to others and what others´gestures, looks, reactions, etc. communicate to us, i.e, their feedback. Awareness is key because without it we cannot see whether we are moving towards or away from our outcome.

As communicators, it´s necessary to know what representational system our audience has. This means how they perceive the world around them, mostly visually, kinesthetically, auditorily, etc. This information enables you to deliver a clearer and more effective message.
